A Good Day to Paint

We decided today was a good day to paint.

I just taped paper to her IKEA easel (love this thing!), put some foil in the tray for easy cleanup, added multiple colors of paint on foil, and gave her a brush. I also have to say how proud I am of her knowing all her colors; what a smarty!
  And she's off!

Don't forget to get up high!
 Such concentration.
By the way, if you can't quite read her shirt, it says, "I'm small but I run this shit!". Unfortunately, it is very true and very fitting for her.
And here is the finished product. What a little Van Gogh. She loved this simple project and kept wanting more and more paint. I'm sure there will be a lot more painting in our future.

Heart Window Decorations

We got crafty today! Ok, so I have to thank Pinterest for this one.

Supplies needed:
- Contact Paper (can be found in the kitchen aisles at Walmart where the drawer liners are)
- Red and/or Pink construction paper cut into heart shapes
- Red and Pink tissue paper, cut into squares
- Glitter!

Step 1: Cut out heart shapes (or try your best anyway..) out of construction paper.
Step 2: Lay on contact paper, sticky side up.
Step 3: Let munchkin put tissues paper pieces on herself.

She favored the pink over the red; true girl right there.
Step 4: Help munchkin add glitter, then lay another piece of contact paper over heart to seal it up.
Step 5: Cut out leaving a small border of contact paper around heart outside.
Step 6: Tape in window and enjoy!

(Hopefully your heart will be more heart-shaped than mine!)
This was a fun, super simple project that we can get out every Valentine's Day to enjoy.

Science Experiment!

What happens when you mix baking soda and vinegar together? Fizzy fun!

Ingredients needed:
- Baking Soda
- White Vinegar
- Food Coloring
- Container to put it in
- Straw (or something) for stirring

Step 1: Choose color (she chose green) and stir in vinegar.
Step 2: Pour into baking soda and watch the fizziness! Too bad it doesn't last very long, but I was quickly asked, "more again! more again!"

Okay, so we had to do it "more again".

Step 1: Choose another color (blue this time) and stir.
Step 2: Accidentally spill on the sidewalk and give me a pouty face.
REDO!

Unfortunately, this activity is a quick one and doesn't last too long. However, she had a blast and kept wanting to do it over and over.

How Many Munchkins?

Okay, post numero uno. Here is some recent background info, quick and simple (Bullet points even!)

- I've gone from a teacher of 28 children down to watching one little munchkin of my own. Yes, I am officially a stay at home mom (for the moment)!

- Recent move from a small town to an even smaller town. There is one grocery store and one gas station; how ever will we survive?!

- So the title of the blog may be a little misleading at the moment. How many munchkins do you ask? Currently one beautiful, 2.5 year old girly. I mean, how can you not love this face? (and no, she isn't wearing flip flops!).

- Why Munchkins? Because munchkin #2 is on the way! Making her debut in March.

Life will be interesting here as we try to keep busy, keep learning, and keep loving. Keep checking back for adventures of the Elliott family!
